Costs correct as of June 2008
There are many design features about HotSpring Spas that make them the least expensive hot tub to operate. Here are just two fundamental reasons.
1. Our hot tubs are totally insulated with multiple layers of high density, closed-cell polyurethane foam – most hot tubs are foamed with one layer of open-cell polyurethane foam. Try the finger test – if you can push your finger into the foam it is open-cell and has poor insulation qualities. Beware, some hot tubs are not foamed at all.
2. HotSpring Spas have a separate pump for filtration using only 80w and keeping the hot tub clean 24 hours per day. Most hot tubs use their jet pump to save on production costs to do the filtration. This works on a timer but because it moves so much water it cools the water when you are not using your hot tub so not only is the jet pump using more electric the heater is also coming on to reheat the water after the filtration cycle.
Proof of our running costs?
Our 6 seater Sovereign hot tub operates on a normal 13amp socket - most other 4+ seater hot tubs require at least a 20 amp supply. Beware of claims of running costs with no written proof.
