RAINBOWS Fund Raising (July 2008) - 15 July 2008 |
The organisation concerned is called SAFE (which stands for "Storey Arms Fundraising Events"), and relates to the The Storey Arms which is the (one & only!) pub in the Leicestershire small village of Osgathorpe. The pub itself has a long & successful track record of raising funds for Rainbows Children's Hospice in Loughborough, which is a hospice for children with life-limiting conditions.
SAFE was set up in the summer of 2007 in order to put together a family fun day & fun dog show to raise funds for Rainbows. As part of that event they had a 'Rainbow Super League' comprising 7 games, one for each colour of the rainbow. In addition to small prizes for all the youngsters having a go at the games trophies/prizes were awarded to the best accumulative scores in 3 categories; under 10's, 10 -16 year olds & 16 - 116+. HotSpring initial sponsorship of £50 went to buy the equipment & sweets (prizes) for the 'HOOK A DUCK' game. Despite wind & heavy rain for the entire afternoon that event, on August 18th 2007, raised £1337.35 for the hospice.... Rainbows have since invited SAFE to become officially 'Friends Of Rainbows', and details of this summer's event are below:

Hucknall Warriors Fun day (Sept 07) - 07 July 2008 |
Well we all had a great day at the Hucknall Warriors fun day, Notts install turned up to support HotSprings and our under 8s team.Andy Elliott, Johnno, Sean and Leigh all turned up to play football along with 3 extra helpers called in at the last minute, Pete and Anthony, friends of my daughter Natalie who also turned up to help. The team all wore yellow strip borrowed by johnno so they matched our under 8s team home kit. The guys had all volunteered to play football at the fun day and we were also presenting the new kits to Nottinghams sponsorship team. Unfortunately when we arrived we found that our team were not only playing football but also taking part in a number of other events, namely egg and spoon race, wheelbarrow race, three legged race, spacehopper race, sack race and tug of war.
In the afternoon the new HotSpring under 8s played their first match as a team but lost 5-0. Mind you the other team were bigger, some of ours had their shirts down to their knees. they were so small and diddy, some of the other team kept grabbing and pulling so one of our lads put a stop to that with a right hook to one of them, he went down but did not touch our lads again.
After the launch match followed the athletics, the guys all took part in a variety of games and although they did'nt win any, they did really well (well I haven't laughed so much in ages).
The football matches were well played, we were beaten in our first match but did recieve some nasty injuries. Aaron was tackled and taken down, Leigh was injured as was Andy. The next match the guys won although we had to put Aaron in goal. Overall our install team came out 3rd
We also presented the new HotSpring kits to the boys, who in return presented us with a team banner for our warehouse and a team shirt, signed by all the team in true premiership style, which has been mounted and is proudly on show in the HotSpring Nottingham showroom.
We may have been beaten in the footie but Aaron won the trophy for the fastest shot, a staggering 61 miles an hour.
Finally, while the install guys were playing football and taking part in the athletics the showroom manager was put in the stocks by Aaron and pelted with wet sponges, Aaron even paid a fiver to use a bucket instead of the sponges.
Agreta time was had by all who attended and we at HotSprings would like to Paul Burley and his team of helpers for inviting us and making the day such a success. Looking forward to next years. |
Hucknall Warriors look great in their HotSpring strip... (Aug 07) - 19 January 2008 |
